Grading Your Self-Portrait

Your self-portrait will be graded using a two-part rubric. Don’t worry…everyone can be successful on this project! If you follow the rubric, and make sure that you have met all of the requirements, you will receive an A. Ms. Kline will monitor your progress with you to ensure that you complete your project.

Self-Portrait Rubric

Part I - Drawing

To receive a grade of A, you must meet all five requirements.
To receive a grade of B, you must meet the first four requirements, and complete your head and body.
To receive a grade of C, you must meet the first four requirements, and complete your head.

Five Self-Portrait Drawing Requirements:
  • Correct Theme
    • Self-Portrait
  • Realistic
    • Human-scale shapes
    • Realistic colors
  • Hand-drawn
    • No auto-shapes
  • Neat
    • No stray marks
  • Effort
    • Complete drawing-modify this list to fit your own design & ok with Ms. Kline!
      • Head:
        • Eyes
        • Nose
        • Ears
        • Hair
        • Mouth
      • Body:
        • Neck
        • Trunk
        • Arms
        • Legs
        • Hands
        • Feet
      • Background:
        • The “future you”
        • This part does not need to be complicated/complex
Part II - Sharing

To receive a grade of A, you must meet all five requirements.
To receive a grade of B, you must meet four requirements and the first three requirements are mandatory.
To receive a grade of C, you must meet three requirements and the first three requirements are mandatory.

Five Self-Portrait Sharing Requirements:
  • Save your drawing in .jpg file format.
  • Upload your .jpg to the teacher’s server account drop box.
  • Share your project with the class on the classroom SmartBoard.
  • Explain your choice of future career.
  • Print your project in color.
