Kiki Rescued From the Rubble

As his mother gently coaxed him out into the open, 7-year-old Kiki was pulled from the rubble, eight days after the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010. Thanks to the devotion of the rescue workers, Kiki and his 10-year-old sister, Sabrina, were safely rescued from the debris of a building collapse. Their rescue was nothing short of miraculous! Read about the story here from the photographer who took the amazing photograph of his rescue!

This week Spurgeon staff and students are holding a "Cougar Campaign for Haiti Earthquake Relief" to help raise funds to send to the Red Cross relief effort in Haiti. You may participate by contributing $1.00 during your 2nd period class. If everyone at Spurgeon contributes $1.00, we will be able to send $1500.00 to help the people of Haiti! UPDATE - Great job Cougars! The students and staff of Spurgeon Intermediate raised over $1400 to be donated to the Red Cross specifically for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
