Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of Keyboarding!

Last week you took your first individual, comprehensive keyboarding assessments. Everyone is doing a great job demonstrating that they know how to type each key on the keyboard, with the proper fingers. You are also doing a great job with proper keyboarding position: sitting up straight, one hand-span from the keyboard, feet flat on the floor, etc.

This week you will:
  • Continue reviewing "touch typing" techniques.
  • Continue working on your Keyboarding Online lessons.
  • Learn how to take your photo with a digital camera
  • Learn how to import your photo to a word processing document
  • Learn how to change the font on a word processing document
You will also continue to work on your computer-related vocabulary.

Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 of Keyboarding!

Last week you continued working on your Keyboarding Online lessons. You also learned how to configure your USB headphone/microphone audio device for Mac OSX. Now you will be able to add any external sound device whenever you need one for recording or listening to audio, especially when you work on your first podcast!

Welcome to Week 4 of Keyboarding!

Last week you began your Keyboarding Online lessons in earnest. You also brought your family to visit Spurgeon Intermediate to meet your teachers, see your classrooms, and to show off your brand new building! Just another busy week at Spurgeon!

Back to School Night

Ms. Kline would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the students and their families who are visiting Spurgeon this evening for
Back to School Night!

Ms. Kline's Keyboarding and Technology students are welcome to show their parents all of the wonderful programs they using in their classes every day.

Please show your parents:
  1. How to log in
  2. How to open a web browser
  3. Go to the Keyboarding Online website and show them your keyboarding program
  4. Take a photo of your family with Photo Booth
  5. Print one photo of your family
  6. Show your family a computer game
  7. Show your family how to log out & shut down your computer
  8. Show your family how you leave the computer lab when you exit the lab
  9. Don't forget to pick up your treat after you sign in with your family!

Tech Tip Tuesday - Configure an Audio Device for Mac OSX

For today's Tech Tip Tuesday, you will learn how to configure an audio device such as USB headphones or a USB microphone for Mac OSX.
  1. Click the gray apple in the top left of the menu bar & drop down to "System Preferences..."
  2. Click the "Sound" icon on the right side of the system preferences window
  3. Select the device you want to configure
  4. Click "Output" & select the device for sound output & configure volume, etc.
  5. Click "Input" & select the device for sound input & configure volume, etc.
  6. Click "Sound Effects" to configure the sound effects your computer uses for alerts, etc.

Welcome to Week 3 of Keyboarding!

Whew! Last week you learned how to make a web bookmark and you are now able to easily visit a website that you have visited before. You learned how to configure your Firefox web browser to meet your needs and protect your privacy. You also learned about "touch typing", and began your Keyboarding Online lessons. What a busy week!

This week you will:
  • Continue learning about "touch typing" techniques.
  • Continue your Keyboarding Online lessons.
  • Take your first keyboarding assessment to ensure proper technique at all times.
