What is your 1st Trimester Grade?

Today you will calculate your final grade in this class!

Look at your 1st Trimester Grade Card and total your scores:
  • Add each test score to the previous total.
  • Add your project scores to the previous test totals.
  • Look at your final total.
  • Find your final grade based on your final total.
  • Circle your final grade.
  • Write your beginning speed at the left of the "Keyboarding" title.
  • Write your final speed at the right of the "Keyboarding" title.
  • Read your goal at the top of your card.
  • Did you meet your goal?
  • How much did you improve?
  • Look at your two benchmark assignments.
  • Did you pass your two benchmarks?
Congratulations on a successful 1st Trimester!

Share Your October Art Project!

Today you will share your October art project with the class.

First we will review the grading rubric for the art projects.

You will follow these directions for your presentation:
  1. Bring your grade card to Ms. Kline
  2. Stand by the Smart Board with your artwork displayed
  3. Introduce yourself
  4. Describe your picture
  5. Estimate your grade on this project
  6. Ms. Kline will tell you your grade
  7. Write it down on your grade card

Multimedia Autobiography Project

Students will create a multimedia autobiography presentation with text, pictures, video, and music describing and demonstrating various aspects of their lives.

Template:
All presentations will include the following sections:
  1. Written autobiography with four paragraphs:
    • Personal information:
      • Name
      • Age of the student
      • Where the student was born
      • Where the student lives (city, state)
      • Whom the student lives with
      • What school the student attends
    • Student’s interests:
      • Activities outside school
      • Sports
      • Artistic activities
      • School activities
    • Student’s short-term goals:
      • This school year
      • This summer
    • Student’s long-term goals
      • High school
      • College
      • Career
  2. Student artwork:
    • Graphic art produced during Keyboarding course
  3. Web sites showing student interests:
    • Make sure each interest is listed and described in your autobiography
  4. Music of interest to the student:
    • Make sure the music/artist is described in the “Interests” paragraph of your autobiography
  5. Autobiographical movie of student:
    • Introduction of student
    • Student’s interests
    • Student’s friends
  6. Photos of student, family, friends, interests & activities
  7. Written biography of the student’s family:
    • Who are your family members?
    • Who lives with you?
    • What does each person in your family do for a living?
    • What does your family do for fun?
    • Where does your family like to go on vacation?
    • What are your family members’ interests?
    • What else is interesting about your family?
  8. College Plans:
    • Where do you want to go to college?
    • What would you like to study?
  9. Career Plans:
    • What career/careers interest you?
    • What education does this career require?
  10. “The Future Me!” - Describe your life 20 years from now

Grades shall based on the following rubric:

  • All sections are neatly done with a high quality of work.
  • Few, if any, grammar/spelling/punctuation errors.

  • 8 out of 10 sections have been completed.
  • Must include the written autobiography and family biography.
  • All sections are neatly done with a high quality of work.
  • Infrequent grammar/spelling/punctuation errors.

  • 6 out of 10 sections have been completed.
  • Must include the written autobiography.
  • All sections are neatly done with a high quality of work.
  • Some grammar/spelling/punctuation errors.

  • 5 or fewer sections have been included.

October Schedule

For the month of October, you will follow this schedule:
  • Keyboarding - 15 minutes
  • Monday & Wednesday - Mavis 16
  • Tuesday & Thursday - Textbook
  • October Art Project - 30 minutes
  • Fridays - Typing Test
Remember:
Art Projects will be graded in class on Monday!

Everyone will present their project at the front of the room on the Smart Board.

October Art Project

Today you will begin your October Art Project!

You have learned how to use all of the wonderful tools available in the Appleworks Painting program. You are able to use different tools and you are able to change the size, color, and style of these various tools.

Your theme for the month of October is:
Fall

You may draw any type of picture that is appropriate for the autumn season. This includes:
  • Halloween
  • Día de los Muertos
  • Thanksgiving
  • Fall fruits and vegetables
  • Fall sports
  • Fall activities
  • Fall outside environment
You must spend two full weeks on your drawing. You must spend the entire two weeks drawing, correcting, and improving your drawing.
